Public Transport

There are good options for traveling by bus or train if you live at Lindley Moor Meadows. Public transport use is good for you and for the environment - a full bus takes 50 cars off the road, improving air quality, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and freeing up road space for other buses and cyclists. Walking to the bus stop or train station also helps you stay active.

Travel for free by bus

 

Persimmon Homes have made funds available to provide one FREE annual MCard to each household at Lindley Moor Meadows. These can be used on almost all buses in West Yorkshire for 12 months from the date of issue. There are also significant discounts on your second and third annual MCard if you choose to buy one, and if you need to add rail travel to your MCard. All the bus services detailed below accept the MCard.

Huddersfield freetownbus is a free bus service between key locations around Huddersfield. The services links key locations around the town centre including, the bus and rail stations, Huddersfield University, Kirklees College, the Kingsgate Centre and the indoor and outdoor markets.

 

Bus services stopping near Lindley Moor Meadows

 

The nearest bus stops to Lindley Moor Meadows are on Crosland Road (shown on the map below), a 7 minute walk away from Lindley Moor Meadows. 377 and 378 (TLC Travel) both stop here once per hour Monday to Saturday going to Lindley in one direction and Huddersfield in the other.

 

There are additional stops on Cowrakes Road, a 10 minute walk from Lindley Moor Meadows, where First buses 370 and 371 stop. These go to Lindley in one direction and Huddersfield in the other, and there are three services per hour in each direction. The 501 (First) and 343 (Yorkshire Tiger) also stop on Weatherhill Road.

 

The E5 (TJ Walsh), a circular bus between Elland and Jagger Green, stops on Lindley Moor Road. There are two services per day running Monday to Friday.

Bus Stops and Routes close to Lindley Moor Meadows

Travel by train

 

Huddersfield rail station can be reached by taking the 370 or 371 from the stop on Cowrakes Road, a 7 minute walk from Lindley Moor Meadows.

 

The rail station is a 15 minute cycle ride and there are 54 cycle parking spaces. There are also 28 car parking spaces, along with 4 accessible spaces.

 

TransPennine Express and Northern services call at Huddersfield serving a number of destinations including Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, Newcastle, Manchester and Liverpool.

Bus and rail tickets

 

MCards are credit card sized travel cards that allow travel on buses and trains in West Yorkshire with almost all operators.

 

The MCard is loaded with ‘travel’ and all you need to do is put it on the MCard reader on the bus (or at rail station barriers if your MCard covers rail travel too). MCards are available for bus-only travel or for bus and rail.
